LIMINAL VOICE, 2016
CURATED BY KATHERINE NOLAN PERFORMED AT THE COMPLEX DUBLIN Performance “Liminal Voice” at Livestock Performance Art Platform Presents: Bodytalk curated by Katherine Nolan, The Complex Gallery, Nov 2016 A lone figure in white attempts to sing through a cloth gag. Livestock presents ‘Body Talk,’ an evening of live art curated by Katherine Nolan with support from Siobhán Kelly. The night began with bodily presence and ended with an act of speech. Framed by the concept of ‘Body Talk,’ this Livestock featured performances that respond to ideas around language and the body; Are the materiality of the body and acts of speaking often oppositionalised? How does the body speak itself, and how can acts of speech dissolve into our experiences of flesh? ABOUT LIVESTOCK: Livestock is a performance art platform that takes place every two months, curated by Francis Fay and Eleanor Lawler. It is open to all levels and experiences, from established performers to artists who are first-timers, students and recent graduates, and those curious about performance. As a multi-disciplinary platform, we welcome conceptual practice, performances, music, dance, spoken word & discourse. Livestock is an exploration space, and we encourage artists to test new ground. |
